FITUR – Spanish Travel and Trade Fair

March 15, 2008 | Bhutan participated for the first time in the Spanish Travel and Trade Fair – FITUR in January thisyear. The team representing Bhutan were: the Director General and an officer from the Tourism Council of Bhutan; the President and General Secretary of ABTO and 5 tour operators. As a new participant, Bhutan got huge coverage in the Spanish media; (122 times in Press, 7 in radio, 3in television and 39 on the internet). Bhutan was also featured 9 times in press release of FITUR and 14 times in the international media. His Majesty Juan Carlos’s also mentioned Bhutan in hisspeech, further enhancing the number of visitors to the Bhutan booth.

FITUR was held in Madrid from 30th January – 3rd February, 2008. The fair welcomed some255,817 visitors from which 157,299 were professionals.
