Bhutan Travel Bureau (BTB) is one of the few pioneer tourism companies born out of this privatization policy of the Royal Government of Bhutan and was founded in 1991 by Mr. Samdrup Norbu, Managing Director/CEO. BTB is a group of dedicated young professionals, with years of accumulated experiences in travel to the mystical kingdom of Bhutan, dubbed the last Shangri-La on earth.

We have joined hands to set up a tour operation that blends the traditional and gracious hospitality of the “Drukpa” (“The Dragon People”) with contemporary professionalism. We promote environmentally friendly travel that is in harmony with the valuable traditions of Bhutan’s distinctive cultural ethos.

We believe that travel should bring people together, by promoting a better understanding of each other, while encouraging greater mutual respect. As well as being the premier tour operator for Bhutan, BTB also have a Travel Agency Division, established in 1994. BTB Travel Agency or commonly referred to as Ticketing Unit has grown in a short span of time to become the premier ticketing agency in Bhutan. It is widely recognized for the high quality and reliability of its travel services. BTB Travel Agency is an IATA (International Air Transport Association) accredited agent and is fully equipped with Computer Reservation Systems from Amadeus, Galileo and IC (Indian Airlines’) for online reservations. BTB Travel Agency is also the sole American Express Travel Services Representative in the Kingdom of Bhutan; and can service clients to over 1700 locations in 130 countries all over the world.
