  • Day 1 : Day trip from Thimphu to Drakey Pangtsho and back to Thimphu.Paro Drakey Pangtsho day Hike on 12th June ( Saturday ) 2021. Yarden Tours is arranging its 4th Group to Paro Drakey Pangtsho day hike on 12th June 2021 ( Saturday ) at Nu. 800. Per person. We will take 18 person in one bus. Pick up and drop from Changlingmethang parking. Price includes transport charges only. If any one is interested contact Karma Wangdi at 17604549. Background of Drakey Pangtsho. It's said that the original name of the lake is Drake Phamtsho which means a lake on the lap of Juwo Drake; the protective deity of Paro Valley. In another oral tradition, it's said that the original name is Dragay Phangtsho which loosely translates as a 'lake on the lap of a cliff. In the northern part of Paro, at around 4300 metres above sea level; hidden and teal coloured lake famously known as Drakay Pangtsho is beautiful hiking spot. Trail to the lake: Drive to Bjana Goenpa also known as Charee Tshen Goenpa which will approximately take around 1 and half hour from Drukgyel Dzong. From the Goenpa, the hike towards then lake will take around 4-5 hours and Takes around 3-4 hours to decend back to the goenpa. Difficulty Level: Strenuous and very prone to Acute Mountain Sickness. Best time to Visit: March to October. Tips: Take Milk,Incense Sticks and Incense powder for offering. Take lots of Sugary Drinks and Chocolates as a remedy for AMS. Don’t Make Noise, Don’t smoke. Waterproof and mountain climbing shoes are recommended as the trail is rocky and mostly wet.
